Being a Voter is Hard

Not only do we expect people to be a voter, we want them to spend their time doing research on who to vote for.

Everyone knows that the easiest way to decide who to vote for is to just stay home on voting day. I’ve just stayed home for most of my life and can verify that it’s much easier. Trying to figure out who’s running, let alone who to vote for is hard.

Candidates try to convince you to vote for them but the actual problem is getting people to vote at all. If a candidate found a way to get non-voters to come out and vote, they would dominate.

Traditional media does their best with their strategies of yesteryear, but that doesn’t mean we can’t do better. We can take what has worked in the past and what’s possible today and create something new.

Key Features of Kamloops Voter

  • Putting the information for all candidates in one place
  • Making the candidate information accessible to voters at anytime
  • Allowing voters to interact with the candidates and ask questions about issues that concern them.
  • Rather than have voters stand at a microphone, give them the time to thoughtfully create their question from the comfort of their home.
  • Use and approval system to ensure that all voter questions are clear and pertinent. This means that your time isn’t wasted by rambling questions that don’t contain a question.
  • Give voters the ability to endorse the candidates that they support.
  • Get answers from voters regarding local issues and questions via surveys.

With all the information needed to be a voter in one place, let’s hope that we will see more people at the polls this October.
