Nevin Webster asks the City Councillor Candidates

What is something that costs less than $10 a month that you think the current city council should utilize to improve Kamloops starting today?

William James Turnbull

A phone call to MacGyver, a trip to the Dollar Store & all of Kamloops problems could be solved by the current council for $9.99/mth. Or buy 4 bus tickets & have council do a lottery on who is riding the bus that month (they need to ask for a cent from a stranger to make up the fifth bus ticket [$1.99 + .01 = $2.00 Bus Ticket]). And yes I ride the bus, I purposely do not have a car.

Gosh, that isn't much money, is it 🙂 Well $10 a month would buy back 200 used discarded needles and keep them out of the parks, playgrounds and streets 🙂 It's not popular but it works!

Alison Klie

It wouldn't cost any money but just a little bit of time. If I am elected into office I would like to look into starting a regular column with Kamloops this week where I give a recap of what is happening in the council meetings. It would be short and to the point article that the citizens of Kamloops can use to stay informed on the decisions being made without needing to put in a lot of time or effort. By creating more transparency in the local government I believe we could better engage the citizens and therefore make more informed decisions.

Art supplies for various programs that help people with addictions, mental health and transportation. $10 dollars a month can change a life, though less than what people spend on coffee a day, can, from what i've seen and encountered in various creative workshops throughout the city, can definitely help develop self-esteem, confidence and moving forward into a new life and opportunities.

Dale Bass

If I had $10 a month to improve Kamloops, I would take it to a local coffee shop and give it to the owner to provide coffee for people in need. While there I'd get a cup of tea and sit down and listen to what people have to say about Kamloops. It's you, the community, who know how we need to improve. My job is to listen and bring your concerns back to council.

Jennifer Adams

I would try and make the $10.00 turn into more. So, if the city put forward $10.00 a month and encourage residents to also donate $10 a month at the end of the year. If every household got involved we would have a good start on the fundraising for the Performing Arts Centre.
